Bhubaneswar, Apr 17 (Reporter) Strengthening the three-tier Panchayati Raj system and empowering women were among Biju Babu’s greatest contributions to Indian politics, BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik said on Thursday “No one can forget Biju Babu’s contribution,” Patnaik said while paying tribute to the legendary leader at Sankha Bhawan, the party office, on his 28th death anniversary. Patnaik stated that Biju Babu was always proud to be an Odia, and his goal was to make Odisha the best state in the country. The BJD government, he claimed, has taken many steps to realize Biju Babu’s dream. “During this period, a lot of good work has been done, for which Odisha has received many national and international recognitions,” the BJD chief stated. However, Patnaik expressed anger over attempts by some individuals to minimize the sacrifices and contributions of the legendary leader and to distort history. “History is the manifestation of the collective experience of a nation in a specific period, and no one can change it,” he said.
