Mumbai, May 20 (Reporter) A voter turnout of 15.93 per cent was recorded till 11 am on Monday in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra for the fifth and final phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state.
An estimated 15.93 percent of the 2.48 crore electorate exercised their franchise in the first four hours of the fifth-phase Lok Sabha election to win 13 seats in Maharashtra.
According to election sources, the average 15.93 percent electorate exercised their franchise in the first four hours in 13 seats during the fifth and final phase of the Lok Sabha election.
Constituencies wise voting highest Dindori constituency 19.50 percent, followed by Palghar 18.60 percent, Mumbai North West 17.53 percent,Dhule 17.38 percent, Mumbai North East 17.01 percent, Mumbai South Central 16.69 percent, Nashik 16.30 percent, Mumbai North Central 15.73 percent, Thane 14.86 percent,Bhiwandi 14.79 percent, Mumbai Central 14.71 percent, Mumbai South 12.75 percent, and Kalyan 11.46 percent.
The electorate is exercising their franchise amid tight security arrangements in all 13 constituencies.
No untoward incident has been reported so far from any part of the constituencies where polling is in progress.
Most of the candidates of major political parties, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde along with his family members, including his father, his son Srikant Shinde (Shinde Sena-Kalyan), UBT Chief Uddhav Thackeray along with his family members, Sanjay Raut, and MNS Chief Raj Thackeray, cast their votes.
While celebrities including Dharmendra,Hema Malini, Govida, Paresh Rawal, Bollywood singer Kailash Kher, and Sanjay Bendre, among others, were among the industrialists, bureaucrats also shared their votes with their family members.
Talking to mediaperson Uddhav Thackeray, he said that people have fed up with 'Jumlebazi' and expressed that to save democracy, voters will cast their votes.
While state chief minister Shinde expressed his confidence that Mahyuti will win all six seats in Mumbai as well as seats in Thane district, Narendra Modi will once again become prime minister of the country.
