Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh), May 18 (Reporter) Five members of a family were killed and three others injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry on the outskirts of Gooty mandal on NH-44 in the wee hours of Saturday. Gooty Circle Inspector Venkatrami Reddy said that eight members of a family, all residents of Rani Nagar colony in Anantapur, went to Hyderabad to shop for the marriage of one, Suroj Basha to be held on May 27. Suroj too was killed in the accident. When they were going back to Anantapur from Hyderabad, the accident took place. Their car collided with a lorry at Royal Dhaba hotel on the highway killing three persons instantaneously. Two died while undergoing treatment in the GGH in Gooty. The deceased were identified as Ali Saheb (58), Sheik Suroj Basha (28), Mohammad Ayan (6), Aman (4) and Rehena Begum (40). The driver at the wheel was drowsy, which led to the car colliding with the lorry, the CI said.
