5 NLFT militants surrender with arms in Tripura

Agartala, Jan 15 (Reporter) As many as five militants of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) surrendered before the Tripura police with arms in Agartala on Monday after crossing the Bangladesh border. Police identified the NLFT militants as Netajoy Reang (33), Mohonda Reang (36), Sukumar Reang (27), Kiranjit Reang (20) and Bishnuram Reang (26) who all are from North Tripura. They deposited one Chinese Pistol, two Chinese made rifles, 17 live rounds, 70 mm short gun shell-10, Walkie-talkie with charging port, 770 Bangladeshi currency, two Bangladeshi mobile SIM cards, five extortion notice, and five extortion receipts. "They have choosen to renounce the path of bloodshed , crossed over to India from their hideout in Bangladesh to join the main stream of life and surrendered,” said DIGP (Intelligence) Krishnendu Chakravertty.
