7/11 train blasts case: HC permits convict to appear for LLB exam from prison

Mumbai, Jun 11 (Reporter) The Bombay High Court has allowed a convict in the July 11 train bomb blasts case to appear for the second semester of LLB exam on June 12, after the Mumbai University informed the court that it will send an examiner to the prison to enable convict to appear for the exam. Last month, the court had permitted applicant Mohammad Sajid Margub Ansari to appear for two papers for the second semester of LLB exam at the centre. However, he missed two out of four exams held on May three and nine as an escorting police officer had been deputed for parliamentary elections duty. Thereafter, Ansari approached the high court, raising grievance against the delay. The court then enquired from Mumbai University if the examinations could be rescheduled for Ansari. The high court asked the university to consider if under peculiar circumstances and security concerns, examinations could be taken online. Upon this, university informed the court that they are ready to send an examiner in Nasik Central prison, where convict is languishing and the same was approved by the court...////...
