Hyderabad, Feb 17 (Reporter) The 82nd All India Railway Hockey Men Championship (League Phase) 2024-25 was inaugurated on Monday at the Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad, by Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR), and Chief Patron of SCR Sports Association (SCRSA).
Several senior officials, including C Madhusudhana Rao, President/SCRSA, and PBS Rathore, General Secretary/SCRSA, were present at the event.
The tournament, scheduled from February 17 to 22, features ten teams, including South Central Railway, Eastern Railway, Western Railway, and Northern Railway, among others.
A concurrent league phase is also being held in Hatia, Ranchi, with ten additional Railway teams. The championship plays a crucial role in selecting the Indian Railways Hockey team for the upcoming Senior National Hockey Championship.
In the opening matches, Banaras Locomotive Works defeated North Eastern Railway (6-0), Western Railway won against South Central Railway (3-2), while Southern Railway vs. West Central Railway (1-1) and South Western Railway vs. South East Central Railway (2-2) ended in draws.
