Hyderabad, Aug 19 (Reporter) AICC spokesperson and prominent lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha byelection in Telangana Assembly here on Monday. He submitted his nomination papers to Returning Officer Upender Reddy. The by-election for 12 Rajya Sabha seats, including one in Telangana and other states, will be held on September 3. In Telangana, K Keshava Rao, who had recently joined the Congress party from BRS, had resigned from his Rajya Sabha membership on July 5, which caused the vacancy. Singhvi's election is expected to be unanimous, as no other party has the numerical strength in the Assembly to contest the Rajya Sabha seat. The last date for the withdrawal of nominations is August 27. If no other candidate file nomination, the returning officer will announce that Singhvi was elected 'unopposed' for the Upper house of Parliament. Singhvi's tenure will be till April 9, 2026.
