Chennai, Aug 13 (Reporter) An absconding rowdy, who was involved in three murder and other criminal cases, arrested in the southern Theni district of Tamil Nadu and brought to Chennai, was shot at and injured when he tried to escape from police custody on Tuesday morning. Police sources said, the rowdy, Rohit Raj, was a native of T.P.Chathiram in the city. He was wanted in at least three key murder cases and other cases and police have been searching for him for the last couple of years. After coming to know that he was hiding in Theni, a Special police team went there and arrested him and brought him to Chennai. While being escorted to a police station today morning for questioning, he tried to attack the police team and escape. Police opened fire in self defence injuring him on his leg.
