Bengaluru, June 11 (Reporter) Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Tuesday addressed the public concerns regarding the recent involvement of renowned Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa in an ongoing police inquiry linked to an alleged murder case. The 47-year-old actor was detained from a hotel in Mysuru in connection with the murder of Renuka Swamy on June 9 in Bengaluru's Kamakshipalya area. Dr Parameshwara clarified to reporters that Darshan's name emerged during the investigation into Swamy's murder. "It's premature to determine the actor's involvement or the motive behind the incident until the investigation is concluded," he stated here. Darshan, taken into custody in Mysuru, has been transferred to Bengaluru for further interrogation, with authorities confirming his continued detention for questioning. These developments have raised questions about the actor's reputation, triggering increased scrutiny and speculation until the investigation reaches its conclusion. This isn't the first time Darshan has faced legal issues. In 2021, he was accused of assaulting a waiter in a Mysuru restaurant. In 2023, a case was registered against him and farmhouse manager Nagaraj under the Wildlife Protection Act for posing with a bar-headed goose, a migratory bird. Additionally, Darshan made headlines in 2011 when he spent a month in jail after being arrested for assaulting his wife Vijayalakshmi.
