Kolkata, Aug 19 (Reporter) Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, a Member of Parliament (MP) from West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress, on Monday approached the Calcutta High Court for protection against arrest in the backdrop of Kolkata Police summoning him twice on Sunday, an action that coincided with his demand for the questioning of city police chief and former hospital chief in the woman doctor’s murder.
High court sources said the two-time Rajya Sabha MP’s plea is likely to come up for hearing on Tuesday.
Sources said Ray, 75, who has been undergoing treatment at a city hospital, is apprehending arrest for not appearing before police.
Police sources said Ray was summoned in connection with allegedly misleading information floated by him over the doctor’s murder.
Earlier, Ray’s social media post created a flutter as he asked the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing the doctor’s murder, to take Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and ousted principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh into custody and question them to unravel the truth behind the medic’s rape and murder.
In his social media post on August 18, Ray said, "CBI must act fairly. Custodial interrogation of Ex Principal and Police Commissioner is a must to know who and why floated suicide story. Why wall of hall demolished, who patronised Roy to be so powerful, why sniffer dog was used after three days.100s of such questions. Make them speak."
Sources said the CBI is in touch with Goyal and Gosh as part of its investigation into the murder...////...
