Chennai, Aug 16 (Reporter) The executive committee meeting of the main Opposition
AIADMK on Friday adopted resolutions condemning the BJP-led government at
the Centre and the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu on key issues concerning the State.
The meeting held at the party office and chaired by Leader of the Opposition in
the State Assembly and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami,
adopted a total of nine resolutions.
One of the resolutions came down heavily on the BJP for ignoring Tamil Nadu
in the Union Budget, which has no new announcements or schemes for the
State.
It also said no fund allocation was made in the Budget.
Strongly condemning its former ally, the BJP, it said no scheme was announced
in the budget for Tamil Nadu and this showed its animosity towards the State.
Condemning the Centre for meting out step-motherly treatment to the State,
it also urged the Union Government to withdraw the 18 per cent GST for health
insurance.
Another resolution demanded that the Centre should declare the devastating
Wayanad landslides in Kerala that claimed over 300 lives, as a National disaster.
Resolution condemning the Centre and the State government for failing to
protect the welfare of the Fishermen, who were subjected to frequent attacks
and arrests by the Sri Lankan Navy, was also adopted.
Resolutions condemning the DMK government in the State was also adopted
at the meeting.
Resolutions condemning the recent power tariff hike and demanding its rollback
while implementing the monthly billing system in the interest of the public, failing
to maintain the law and order situation, non-provision of essential items in PDS
shops, stalling the schemes launched during the AIADMK regime due to political
vendetta, failing to fulfill the poll promises and protect the State's rights on the
inter-state river issues, were also adopted.
Another resolution urged the AIADMK cadres to strive hard under the
guidance of Mr Palaniswami to ensure a massive victory for the party
in the 2026 Assembly polls and help the Party return to power.
It also urged its district secretaries to work out strategies for the 2026
Assembly polls, while thanking the electorate and party cadres for voting
for the AIADMK and its allies in the recent Lok Sabha polls...////...
