Mumbai, July 25 (Reporter) In view of the ongoing heavy rains in Maharashtra, including in Mumbai, Pune and Thane cities, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar visited an emergency control room on Thursday morning and took stock of the situation.
He directed the authorities to coordinate and cooperate with each other.
Director of Disaster Management Department Lahu Mali briefed him about the rain-related situation.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar also contacted the Municipal Commissioners and Divisional Commissioners of major cities over telephone from the control room and gave instructions to remain alert.
He directed officials to keep in touch with National Disaster Response Force.
Shelter and food should be provided promptly to the disaster-affected citizens, Pawar instructed.
Earlier, large stretches of the Pune city and district faced inundation as the city received heavy overnight rainfall resulting in disruption of normal life even as the weather office sounded a "red alert"...////...
