Ludhiana, Fab 21 (Reporter) An alert has been issued in Punjab in view of the difficult situation at Shambhu - the border with Haryana - following the farmers' protest, a senior police officer said on Wednesday. Under orders from Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, hi-tech checkpoints have been installed here on the National Highway and Poklen and JCB machines are being stopped from being moved forward, Khanna Special Superintendent of Police Amanit Kondal said. Kondal, however, clarified that only JCB and Poclain machines are being stopfrom going to the border, while farmers are being allowed to go without any hindrance. He said the steps have been taken to maintain law and order on the Punjab-Haryana border and there is a strong deployment of the police.
