Chennai, Apr 11 (Reporter) Union Home Minister and senior BJP Leader Amit
Shah and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi will visit Tamil Nadu
to campaign for the NDA and the DMK-led Front candidates respectively.
While Mr Amit Shah will hold road shows and address election meeting
on Friday and Saturday, Mr Rahul will address a public meeting tomorrow.
The State Unit of the BJP unit said the Union Home Minister will arrive in
in Madurai tomorrow afternoon.
From Madurai, Mr Shah will go to Sivaganga by a helicopter and hold a road
show for about an hour and canvass votes for NDA candidate Devanathan Yadav
of Inthiya Makkal Kalvi Munnetra Kazhagam (IMKMK), an ally of the BJP.
Later, Mr Shah will return to Madurai and hold a road show in support of BJP
candidate Raama Sreenivasan after which he will offer worship at the famous
Meenakshi Amman Temple.
On Saturday, he will hold a road show at Thuckalay in Kanniyakumari constituency
in favour of BJP candidate and former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan.
He is also scheduled to visit Tiruvarur where he will address an election meeting and
canvass votes for BJP candidate SGM Ramesh and then to Tenkasi, where he wil hold
road show in support of NDA candidate and Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam
(TMMK) leader John Pandian.
From Tenkasi, he will go to Thoothukudi airport in the evening and leave for Delhi by
a special aircraft.
Mr Shah was earlier scheduled to visit the State on April five and six but had twice
cancelled his visit.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi will be campaigning and address a public meeting in support
of DMK-led Secular Progressive Front, which is also part of the Opposition INDIA bloc at
the National level.
He will address an election campaign meeting at Palayamkottai in support of Congress
candidate C.Robert Bruce, who is contesting from the Tirunelveli seat tomorrow.
Single phase polling for all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will
be held on April 19.
With less than a week remaining for the campaign to come to an end, the electioneering
has gained momentum in the state, with the visit of top National leaders, both from the
BJP and the INDIA bloc...////...
