Annamalai holds joint roadshow, accuses Cong govt for 'appeasement politics' over Neha murder

Bengaluru, April 22 (Reporter) Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai, has criticised the Congress party over the deteriorating law and order situation in Karnataka, accusing them of practicing 'appeasement politics'. During a joint roadshow with the BJP's candidate from Bengaluru South seat, Tejasvi Surya, Annamalai highlighted the recent tragic incident in Hubballi where Neha Hiremath, daughter of a Congress corporator, was stabbed to death. He described the incident as "distressing" and "extremely worrying," emphasising the "shameless attitude" of the Congress party. He pointed out that the law and order situation has always been poor under Congress rule due to their appeasement politics. The TN BJP President called the voters to reject such politics and support a change for better governance and security in the state. During the roadshow, Annamalai highlighted the achievements of Narendra Modi government and Surya's contributions to the Bengaluru South constituency. He pointed out that under Surya's leadership, the number of central medical shops in the constituency had increased significantly from 14 to 138. He also rapped the Congress party for its mismanagement of the state's finances, accusing them of treating Karnataka like an "ATM" and causing a shift from a revenue surplus to a deficit. Surya praised Annamalai's popularity in Bengaluru South, acknowledging his previous role as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in the area. He urged voters to reject appeasement politics and vote bank politics, emphasising the need for change. Sowmya Reddy is the Congress candidate contesting against Surya in the upcoming election. In the 2019 elections Surya secured 7,39,229 votes, while Congress' BK Hariprasad received 4,08,037 votes. The voting for 14 seats in Karnataka will be held in the second phase on April 26, with the remaining 14 seats voting in the third phase on May 7.
