Chhapra, July 3 (Reporter) In the seventh incident of bridge collapse in the last 15 days in Bihar, a bridge built over Dhamahi river collapsed under Janata Bazar police station area in Saran district of the state on Wednesday.
Official sources said that a bridge built over Dhamahi river near Dhodh Asthan Temple collapsed causing great difficulties to local people.The bridge was constructed 10 years ago with local area development fund of legislator.
Sources said that an investigation into collapse of the bridge had been ordered. Earlier, the state government had issued directive for a thorough probe into collapse of bridges in the last few days in Bihar.
With fresh incident reported from Chhapra, a total of seven bridges had collapsed in the last 15 days in Bihar. Torrential rains in last few days appeared to be the reason behind the bridge collapse in Saran district, sources further added.
As it is, a bridge had collapsed over Bund river in Khushi Dhangi village in Kishanganj district on last Saturday while another bridge in same district had also collapsed in Bansbari village on June 26. In similar incident, a bridge had collapsed in Araria district on June 18. Another small bridge on canal of Gandak river had collapsed in Siwan district on June 22 while an under construction bridge had collapsed in East Champaran district on June 23. A bridge had also collapsed in Madhubani district on June 27.
Collapse of seven bridges in last 15 days in Bihar has become a big political issue for opposition in Bihar. All opposition parties in the state have slammed Nitish Kumar government for rampant corruption in administration which led to collapse of seven bridges in last 15 days...////...
