AP: VPA sets a target of 90 MMTs this financial year

Visakhapatnam, Jan 26 (Reporter) Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has set a goal of 90 Million Metric Tonnes for this financial year, said VPA Chairperson Dr M Angamuthu. Addressing after unfurling the National Flag on the occasion of 76th Republic Day celebrations held at Port stadium here, Dr Angamuthu informed that during 2024-25, the port has ongoing projects in the pipeline worth Rs.2000 crores which would improve the Port system, thereby contributing to the Visakhapatnam City, neighbouring States and to the nation. The port has the largest internal Rail connectivity in the country and god road connectivity, thereby ensuring hassle-free cargo movement, he said. He informed that the port is taking all steps for improvement of the environment, duly reducing pollution levels in the city. He stated that VPA is committed to giving its best infrastructure to the port as well as to Visakhapatnam City. In the process of development of the port, the administration is taking all necessary steps to work hand-in-hand with the state government, as well as with local PSUs. The chairperson reiterated that all officers, and employees should contribute by giving their best in performing and should set benchmarks in the country and keep up the standard of VPA. Making the celebrations more vibrant, the port organised cultural programmes with patriotic themes, CISF performed various security demonstrations like gun firing and security sniffing dogs. A special attraction added is the CISF Arms and Ammunition display for awareness of the public and the Departmental display tableau parade.
