Around 43 pc votes polled in 8 LS seats of Maha till 1500 hours

Mumbai, Apr 26 (Reporter) An estimated 43.01 per cent of over 1.49 crore voters in eight Lok Sabha constituencies of Vidarbha and Marathwada regions in Maharashtra cast their votes in the second phase of polling till 1500 hours on Friday. These constituencies are Buldhana, Amravati, Akola, Washim-Yavatmal, Wardha, Hingoli, Parbhani and Nanded. There are 204 candidates in fray in eight LS seats. According to officials sources in the Chief Election office, Wardha recorded maximum of 45.95 per cent votes, followed by Parbhani-44.49 pc, Amravati-43.76 pc, Akola-42.69 pc, Nanded-42.42 pc, Washim-Yawatmal-42.55, Buldhana-41.66 pc and Hingoli-40.50 pc. Barring reports of glitches in EVMs, polling process continues to be peaceful, with no untoward incident being reported so far. There were also reports of boycott by local residents at a few villages in Amravati and Parbhani districts, but the issue was sorted out.
