Itanagar, Sep 19 (Reporter) In continuation of the fight against drug trafficking under "Operation Dawn," the Banderdewa Police have apprehended a couple for their alleged involvement in the illicit drug trade. Sources said Banderdewa Police registered a case under Section 21(b) of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, arrested both individuals on Wednesday, and took them under custody for further investigation, Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo said. Police identified the accused as Majibur Rehman (44) and his wife Anuwara Begum (35), residents of Mohguli village under Nowboicha PS in Assam’s Lakhimpur district. Police also recovered a soap case containing over 13 grams of pink powder, suspected to be heroin, from the possession of the lady, the SP said on Thursday. Gambo said the operation was conducted based on credible intelligence about a significant narcotics transaction.
