Arunachal: Crackdown on interstate drug trafficking continues; 3 more peddlers held

Itanagar, Nov 18 (Reporter) Continuing with its ongoing crackdown on interstate drug trafficking, Arunachal Pradesh's Banderdewa Police has apprehended three more drug peddlers and seized 14.61 grams of suspected heroin from them, a senior officer said on Monday. Acting on credible intelligence that individuals in possession of a significant quantity of narcotics, suspected to be heroin, with the intent to sell them to local youths in the Capital Region, Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo said, a police team laid a trap at Banderdewa and apprehended two suspects, identified as Afzal Ali (22), and Anwar Hussain (22). Upon conducting a search, one soap case and two vials containing suspected heroin weighing 14.61 grams were recovered from their possession. During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that the narcotics were procured from Md Sonnasi of Silonibari, Assam. Acting on this information, a joint operation with Assam Police was conducted, resulting in the apprehension of the supplier, Md Sonnasi (28) of Simultenga, Silonibari, Lakhimpur district. A search at his residence led to the recovery of nine empty vials, which were duly seized. The operation was executed by a team comprising Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo, Banderdewa PS OC Inspector Kipa Hamak, SI Koj Tada, ASI K B Singh, head constable C Kokma, and constables Rinchin Tsering, Tade Bomdon, and U Gogoi under the command of SP Naharlagun. A criminal case has been registered at the Banderdewa PS under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, the SP said, adding that further investigations are underway. It is pertinent to mention that this operation follows a previous successful interstate crackdown where five drug peddlers were arrested in connection with Banderdewa PS Case No. 70/2024 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act...////...
