Itanagar, Aug 27 (Reporter) Arunachal Pradesh Home and Inter-State Border Affairs Minister Mama Natung called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday and submitted a proposal on Tirap-Changlang-Longding (TCL) Package 2.0 Action Plan for strengthening the state police, official sources said on Tuesday.
He also discussed security issues concerning the hilly Northeastern state with the Union Home Minister.
During the meeting, Natung briefed the Union Home Minister about the stepped-up vigilance at inter-state check gates of the state in the wake of the Bangladesh political crisis, focusing on preventing infiltration of illegal immigrants through strict checking of Inner Line Permits (ILPs) and recent linking of Aadhaar card with eILP.
Emphasizing the need for border fencing, especially in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, he said that fencing over the international borders is the utmost priority of the border state to check infiltration, drug trafficking, insurgent activities, and illegal cross-border movements.
Natung also submitted to the MHA a proposal on the TCL Package 2.0 Action Plan. Natung reiterated that it is critical to consolidate TCL Package 1.0 to augment immediate additional capabilities in the state police to strengthen its resources and infrastructures already raised in TCL Package 1.0.
The basic components in the revised TCL 2.0 proposal focus on augmenting infrastructures, mobility, and equipment.
