Hyderabad, Sep 23 (Reporter) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar accused both the Congress and the BRS of engaging in theatrics over the AMRUT scheme to divert public attention from key issues. In a statement issued on Monday, Sanjay emphasised that the AMRUT scheme, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, was intended to improve urban infrastructure across the country. He alleged that both Congress and the BRS were now staging "drama" by accusing each other of corruption within the scheme. "If the BRS accuses the current Congress government of massive corruption in awarding contracts under the AMRUT scheme, and the Congress responds by alleging similar corruption under the previous BRS government, it is all a farce. These accusations and counter-accusations are simply attempts to divert public attention away from the Congress government's failure to implement the six guarantees it promised," Sanjay stated. He asserted that both parties were guilty of large-scale corruption in the scheme, awarding contracts to favored individuals and earning substantial commissions. Sanjay called for an inquiry by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) into the implementation of the AMRUT scheme in Telangana to uncover the truth behind the allegations made by both the BRS and Congress. "The current state government should write to the CVC, requesting an investigation into corruption under the AMRUT scheme. If they do so, I will personally take the initiative in my capacity as Minister of State for Home Affairs to push for an inquiry," Sanjay promised. He further added that if the Congress government truly believes the scheme is being implemented fairly and without corruption in Telangana, they should have no hesitation in writing to the CVC. "Failure to do so will imply that the Congress government is also complicit in corruption," he remarked. Sanjay also accused both the BRS and Congress of using this "drama" to shift attention away from the failure to implement the six guarantees and the ongoing demolition of illegal constructions by Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA)...////...
