Agartala, Jan 22 (Reporter) In a predawn operation on Wednesday, city police apprehended a Bangladeshi national from a rented house in Agartala’s Milan Chakra area, where he had been residing for the past six months hiding his identity.
Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) D P Roy said acting on a tip-off, police from A D Nagar station raided a house in Adarshapalli locality and detained one Shamajprio Chakma, a resident of Khagrachari district of Southern Bangladesh and seized arms and ammunition.
“Based on the information, we conducted a raid in the Milan Chakra area and detained Chakma who hails from Bangladesh, and a 9 mm pistol, two cartridges, Rs 2 lakh in Indian currency, and 25,000 Bangladeshi taka were recovered from his possession,” Roy said.
After a long interrogation, police arrested him and launched an investigation, SDPO said, adding that police have been trying to track the link between the arms supplier and his intention to possess arms...////...
