Kolkata, Oct 9 (Reporter) A delegation of protesting junior doctors in West Bengal on Wednesday arrived at the health department office in the evening to meet Chief Secretary Manoj Pant for fresh talks to end the deadlock over their ongoing agitation to demand justice for RG Kar Hospital rape and murder victim. A doctor, before entering the Swastha Bhaban at Salt Lake, said their 10-point demands, including removal of Health Secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam, were not negotiable. Meanwhile, over 250 senior doctors and medical professors in state-owned hospitals have resigned enmasse since Tuesday to show solidarity with their protesting junior colleagues. The resignations are subject to acceptance by the government. After over 100 senior doctors of RG Kar Hospital resigned since Tuesday, senior doctors of premium Calcutta Medical College & Hospital (68) in the city and North Bengal Medical College & Hospital (52), NRS (35), Chittaranjan National Medical hospital ( (35) and Jalpaiguri medical college and hospital (35) have also resigned expressing solidarity with their juniors. About 30 senior medics of Sagar Dutta Medical College and Hospital in North 24 Parganas have threatened to quit if the junior medics' demands are not met in the next 24 hours. Sources said the enmasse resignation, however, was not affecting the health operations in the government hospitals as the doctors have continued to work. They said their resignation was to aimed at drawing the attention of the government to act immediately. At Esplanade, seven junior doctors are on fast-unto-death since Saturday but the government was yet to concede any of the 10-point demand, a medic said. Besides, two junior medics in the north Bengal hospital were on fast for the last three days. Meanwhile, two doctors fora and a nursing organisation launched a massive rally at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake and shouted slogans as why the CBI so far filed chargesheet naming one accused - Sanjay Roy, a Civic Volunteer attached with Kolkata Police - in the rape and murder of 31-year-old lady doctor in RG Kar on August 9...////...
