Sandeshkhali, Dec 30 (Reporter) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced 66 new projects worth Rs 163 crore for this riverine island in North 24 Parganas district and called upon the people not to be misled by propagandists. She thanked the people and wished them a happy new year. She said the place would be flooded with people on the occasion of the Makar Sankranti mela at Sagar Island. She said her government was keen to see the development of this riverine island and the improvement of the life of the younger generation for which the government would take every possible step to achieve the goal. Banerjee, without giving details, said that she was aware that money was spent here during the election and urged the people not to be misled by false propaganda. She called upon the people to remain united and avoid bad elements. She said for any government projects, the money would be spent by the government exchequer and not pay anything if they were asked for funds. The government was also considering opening a hub for sweetmeat like Langcha in Burdwan. Banerjee also announced the enhancement of beds from 30 to 60 at the Sandeshkhali Grameen Hospital...////...
