Bengal: Four of family electrocuted to death in Jalpaiguri

Siliguri, Sep 28 (Reporter) An eight-year-old boy among four members of a family died after being electrocuted from a live wire on the road in front of their home in north Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, official sources said on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Paresh Pal (62), his wife Deepali (60), eldest son Mithun Das (33) and grandson Suman Das. The tragedy happened when the victims were returning home from the paddy field in the rain at dusk on Friday when they stepped on the live wire, which fell from a light post on the road. The mishap happened at Mantadari village under Rajganj block in Jalpaiguri district. Eyewitnesses said that first Mithun and Suman were caught in the live wire, and when the other two went to rescue them, they were also electrocuted and died. The bodies were taken to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem as a pall of gloom descended on the village where the people were struck in panic...////...
