Bengal records 80.22 pc polling in fourth phase

Kolkata, May 14 (Reporter) Bengal recorded an estimated 80.22 per cent polling in the fourth phase election to eight Lok Sabha seats on Monday, according to Election Commission of India (ECI) sources on Tuesday. While Bardhaman Purba (SC) registered the highest 82.85 per cent turnout, Asansol recorded the lowest of 73.27 per cent. Baharampur recorded 77.54 per cent polling, while Krishnanagar accounted for 80.65 per cent, Ranaghat(SC) for 81.87 per cent, Bardhaman-Durgapur for 80.72 per cent, Bolpur for 82.66 per cent and Birbhum for 81.91 per cent. Bengal will witness another three-phase polling to be completed on June 1. It might be mentioned that all the four phases were by and large peaceful barring some stray incidents...////...
