Kolkata, Aug 4 (Reporter) West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress on Sunday asked its Minister Akhil Giri to apologise and hand over his resignation letter to the party, TMC spokesman Santanu Sen said. "Apologise and resign", the TMC directed West Bengal State Correctional Administration Minister Akhil Giri, a day after he was involved in a verbal duel with a woman Forest Range Officer, sources said. A purported video went viral on Saturday which showed Akhil Giri verbally abusing a woman official of the state government. The Trinamool Congress directed its Minister and party leader Akhil Giri to apologise to the female forest officer over his disrespectful comments and hand in his resignation immediately to the party, National Spokesperson Santanu Sen elaborated. Giri reportedly courted controversy after he was seen threatening and verbally abusing the woman official of the State Forest Department and her team after they removed encroachments on its land in the Purba Medinipur district.
