Bengaluru schools receive hoax bomb threats

Bengaluru, May 14 (Reporter) Eight schools in Bengaluru received hoax bomb threat emails on Tuesday, just two days after six hospitals were made similar targets. The emails, which claimed bombs were placed within the school buildings, were received at 12:20 am and bore the same text as those sent to the hospitals. The threatening emails originated from the Beeble.com domain and were purportedly from a group calling itself "Court." Upon receiving the threats, school administrations promptly notified the police. A bomb detection and disposal squad was dispatched to each of the affected schools, where thorough searches confirmed the threats were false. "The schools are currently closed for summer holidays, with minimal staff present on campus. Given our prior determination of this email as a hoax on Sunday, we ensured all necessary protocols were followed meticulously, thus averting any potential panic," affirmed a senior official. The schools that were targeted include Bangalore Scottish School, Bhavan Bangalore Press School, Chitrakoota School, Deeksha High School, Edify School, Gangothri International Public School, Giridhanva School and Jain Heritage School. Investigation into similar hoax bomb threats sent to schools in April 2022 and December 2023 have faced significant challenges. The sender utilised Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to obscure their identity, and the VPN companies involved have been uncooperative, leading to dead ends in the probes.
