Bihar Assembly, Council adjourned for the day

Patna, July 22 (Reporter) The opening day of the brief monsoon session of Bihar Assembly and Council was adjourned for the day on Monday after taking up the listed business and paying obituary references to sitting and former members, passed away during the intervening period. The names of presiding officers were announced in both Upper and Lower houses. The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) was constituted in the lower house for the monsoon session. An independent member Shankar Singh elected from Rupali Assembly Constituency in the byelection took oath as the member. Assembly Speaker Nandkishor Yadav announced that CPI-ML member Shiv Prakash Ranjan who was elected from Agiaon in the byelection for the Assembly seat had already taken the oath in the chamber of the Speaker on June 26. Welcoming the members of the house,Yadav said that the duration of the session, though was brief but was important in the interest of the people. While welcoming the members of the Upper house, Bihar Legislative Council Acting Chairman Awdhesh Narayan Singh appealed them to cooperate in smooth functioning of the house. He also elaborated the infrastructural progress of the state and hoped the pace of development to get more acceleration. Singh also welcomed the 12 newly elected members of the Upper House including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rabri Devi, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Anamika Singh, Urmila Thakur, Mangal Pandey, Khalid Anwar, Lal Mohan Gupta, Shashi Yadav, Faisal Ali, Santosh Suman and Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha. The first supplementary for the financial year 2024-25 was tabled in the lower house by the Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary while Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary tabled it in the the upper house. Later obituary references were made in both of the houses separately to those who passed away during the intervening period including former members like senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi, Raghunath Gupta, Baleshwar Prasad Singh, Anusuya Devi, Prabhakar Chaudhari, Ramashray Singh, Shanti Devi, Babulal Madhukar and Mahendra Narayan Yadav. The members in both the houses also paid tribute to the departed souls and observed one minute silence after which the legislature was adjourned for the day...////...
