Patna, Mar 1 (Reporter) Bihar assembly speaker Nand Kishor Yadav directed the state government to conserve and preserve the manuscripts kept at Mithila Sanskrit Snatakottar Adhyayan evam Shodh Sansthan (postgraduate study and research center) Darbhanga. Intervening into the reply of a call to attention of Rana Randhir in the Bihar assembly on Friday, the speaker said that old manuscripts kept at the Sansthan have not been preserved and asked the government to preserve them. Replying to the call for attention on behalf of the Education Department, Bihar Minister Shrawan Kumar said that research papers have been published on 75 manuscripts. He said to promote and protect the Sanskrit language, the Sansthan of Darbhanga was functional and was providing degrees of post-graduation, PhD, and D.Litt. in the language. The Minister said that there is no proposal under consideration for opening any other research center for Sanskrit. Through his supplementery, Vinod Narayan Jha drew the attention of the house towards the delapitated condition of 10,000 manuscripts and demanded to preserve them. He also demanded the appointment of Sanskrit teachers under the Bihar Sanskrit Shiksha Board, constituted 40 years ago.
