Patna, Feb 9 (Reporter) Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said on Sunday that Bihar is the birthplace of India's rich cultural heritage. Addressing the valedictory function of GTRI 5.0 dialogue here, Khan said that "an inferiority complex has developed in us due to invasions and centuries of foreign rule, but we should not forget that our civilization is 5,000 years old." He suggested self-introspection instead of looking outside for the solutions and stressed the need to connect with the cultural values and imbibe them. The Governor emphasized that Vedas, Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads taught about unity, purity of soul and about inner consciousness. The Indian culture believes in unity in diversity, he added. Participating in the panel discussion, the Indian Express Sub-Editor of Delhi Amitabh Sinha spoke about the scenario in the media and described it as more democratic where various thoughts were being projected on different issues. Lack of confidence in the media is a global phenomenon, he said while highlighting the infrastructure and growth in Rajgir. He suggested a more effective campaign of the transformations the state has achieved. Senior journalist Brijmohan Singh, during a discussion, said that in the initial period of 1990 and 2000, the news in the national media hovered around negative incidents like kidnapping and caste-based murders. The situation however has now changed, but the constructive and positive stories need more coverage like political news, he opined. In another discussion focused on "Tourism: Driver of Development", Vikas Kumar, Founder and CEO, Trip to Temples, said that due to its rich cultural circuits like Buddhist, Ramayana, Jain and Sufi circuits, Bihar has immense potential in the field of tourism. During a discussion, the diplomat and author Abhay K said that the less known facts of Nalanda have been highlighted in his book "Nalanda: How it Changed the World". While interacting with the panelists, regional chief of Eastern states of Invest India, Apoorv Kumar, said that Bihar was facing challenges in attracting major investors due to lack of infrastructure.
