Bihar legislature adjourned sine die

Patna, March 1 (Reporter) The budget session of Bihar legislature, which commenced on February 12, was adjourned sine die on Friday. Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar addressed the joint session on the opening day of the budget session. The budget session had been crucial one as the state assembly speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary was removed from his post through a no-confidence motion. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar leading the NDA government in Alliance with BJP also won the trust vote of the house on the opening day of the budget session. Following Choudhary's removal, Nand Kishore Yadav was unanimously elected as Assembly Speaker and Narendra Narayan Yadav as deputy Speaker following resignation by the deputy speaker Maheshwar Hajari. The membership of CPI ML member Manoj Manzil was terminated following his conviction and life term imprisonment by MP MLA court of Bhojpur district in a murder case. The budget for the financial year 2024-25 was passed by both Upper and Lower house. Apart from taking up other businesses, the house also passed Bihar Public security (measures) bill 2024, Bihar Technical Services Commission (Amendment) Bill 2024, Bihar crime control bill 2024, Bihar taxes dispute redressal bill 2024, Bihar VAT (amendment) Bill 2024, Bihar state child Labour Commission (Amendment) Bill 2024, Bihar Sanskrit Shiksha Board (amendment) Bill 2024, Bihar rajya Madrasa Shiksha Board (Amendment) Bill 2024, Bihar state minority commission (Amendment) Bill 2024 and Bihar state women Commission (Amendment) Bill 2024. Addressing the members, the Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav extented his gratitude to the members for their cooperation in running the house smoothly. He also congratulated the members in advance for the Holi festival. In his concluding remarks, Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Devesh Chandra Thakur appreciated the cooperation of the members in taking up the enlisted businesses of the house during the budget session.
