Bengaluru, Aug 3 (Reporter) Karnataka is ablaze with political upheaval as the 'Mysuru Chalo' padayatra becomes the epicenter of a high-stakes scandal involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. What started as an eight-day march, launched from Kengeri today by top BJP leaders, has rapidly escalated into a dramatic confrontation with the Congress government, potentially reshaping the state's political landscape. In a blistering attack on Siddaramaiah, BJP MP Tejasvi has accused the Chief Minister and his associates of illicitly benefiting from executive decisions, branding the case as an "open-and-shut" instance of entrenched corruption. "The allegations against Siddaramaiah and his family in the MUDA scam are deeply troubling," Tejasvi declared, intensifying the scandal’s spotlight on the Chief Minister. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi stoked the fire further, denouncing the Congress party's long history of scandal and corruption. "The Congress party has scam and corruption in its DNA," Joshi proclaimed, linking the current allegations to a persistent pattern of misconduct. His remarks cast a long shadow over the present administration, further energizing the opposition. The padayatra, gaining significant momentum, is spearheaded by former Chief Minister and BJP leader DV Sadananda Gowda. "It is my duty to fight against the Congress’s atrocities and corruption... We will force Siddaramaiah to step down," Gowda declared, positioning the event as a pivotal struggle against corruption. Adding to the controversy, Union Minister and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy suggested that the padayatra is merely the beginning of a larger conspiracy. "We are going to finish this event in Mysuru," Kumaraswamy warned, hinting at deeper, more sinister layers to the alleged corruption. Karnataka's Leader of Opposition, R Ashoka, ramped up the scrutiny with a focused attack on the MUDA and Valmiki Corporation scams. His frustration is evident as he recounts his failed efforts to secure a response from the Assembly, demanding Siddaramaiah’s resignation. "We are left with no alternative," Ashoka lamented, emphasizing the urgency and severity of the situation. The padayatra continues to capture widespread attention, with former CM Basavaraj Bommai and Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje amplifying accusations against the Congress government. Bommai condemned the alleged sale of Karnataka’s resources, while Karandlaje alleged misuse of funds meant for the poor, asserting they were diverted for electoral gains in Telangana. Their statements deepen the narrative of profound corruption. BJP MLA CN Ashwathnarayan added his voice to the growing chorus of accusations, alleging financial misconduct and government misuse of power. Coupled with warnings of a "lame-duck government" from other leaders, the atmosphere is charged with tension and anticipation.
