Bengaluru, June 14 (Reporter) The Karnataka BJP has accused the Congress government of vendetta politics following a non-bailable warrant issued against former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in a POCSO case.
In a significant development on Thursday, a special court in Bengaluru issued the warrant in connection with allegations of sexual harassment of a minor by Yediyurappa. The BJP claims this move is retaliation for the defamation case involving Rahul Gandhi.
Former BJP national General Secretary CT Ravi rapped Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, stating, "Is this not vendetta politics? CM Siddaramaiah claimed he wouldn’t engage in such tactics, but now he is doing exactly that. The people of the state will hold him accountable for this," said former BJP national general secretary CT Ravi.
Ravi highlighted the four-month delay in the government's action after the case was lodged and referenced a statement by Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara dismissing the case's substance.
BJP MLC and party chief whip N Ravikumar also condemned the warrant, labeling the case as baseless and politically motivated. He pointed out that the complainant has a history of filing numerous cases against officials and politicians.
"The Congress, after four months of inaction, has suddenly sprung into action. Obtaining a non-bailable arrest warrant against Yediyurappa is highly condemnable," remarked BJP MLC Chalavadi Narayanaswamy.
The BJP maintains that the case against Yediyurappa is a political conspiracy orchestrated by Congress in retaliation for Rahul Gandhi's defamation trial. The party vows to honour the court order while continuing to challenge the motivations behind it...////...
