BJP, JDS urge Siddaramaiah-led Cong govt to declare holiday on Jan 22

Bengaluru, Jan 21 (Reporter) The BJP and its ally JDS have urged the Congress government in Karnataka to declare a holiday in the state on the occasion of Pran Prathista of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya temple. "Tomorrow is a historic day. Not only in India but also people across the globe are eagerly waiting for this big event (Pran Prathista). So, BJP, as well as JDS, have urged the state government to declare a holiday to ensure and also give opportunity for people to watch such a historic event," he told reporters here. But unfortunately, the present Congress government in Karnataka and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have not taken any decision, complained Vijayendra. "Even now it is not too late. I request the honorable chief minister to take a decision immediately in this regard," he added. Earlier, the central government declared that its offices will be closed for a half-day given Pran Prathista of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya Temple tomorrow. In response, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and Odisha have declared holidays for educational institutions and government offices on the historic day. The union territories - Puducherry and Chandigarh also declared holidays.
