Belagavi, Dec 20 (Reporter) Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Friday alleged that party MLC CT Ravi was treated like a terrorist by the police under pressure from the Congress-led state government.
Addressing the media, Vijayendra accused the police of mistreating Ravi, a former minister and respected member of the Legislative Council, during his custody. "The way the state government has handled this issue is unpardonable.
CT Ravi was subjected to inhumane treatment — denied medical care for a severe head injury, not offered water throughout the night, and forced to travel 400-500 kilometres without rest. Is he a terrorist or a criminal? This is sheer high-handedness by the Congress government," he said.
Vijayendra claimed the police acted at the behest of senior ministers in the state government and criticised the handling of the situation. "The entire police department appears to have succumbed to political pressure. This incident raises serious questions about the government’s conduct and the chief minister is duty-bound to answer," he added.
Calling for statewide protests, Vijayendra said the BJP would not take this matter lightly. "Protests will be held at all district headquarters, and we have our legal experts examining the situation to decide on the future course of action," he declared.
The incident has sparked a political controversy in Karnataka, with the BJP accusing the Congress government of targeting its leaders, while the ruling party has yet to issue a response...////...
