BJP serves notice to ST Somashekhar for party indiscipline

Bengaluru, Apr 7 (Reporter) The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Sunday took action against its Yesvantpur MLA, ST Somashekhar, for allegedly working for the Congress party. The BJP has served Somashekhar a show cause notice, questioning why action should not be taken against him for breaching the party's discipline by allegedly supporting the Congress. R Ashoka, a senior BJP leader, confirmed that the party became aware of Somashekhar's actions and decided to take action against him. A formal complaint has also been lodged with the Assembly Speaker regarding this matter. However, Somashekhar still has an opportunity to work for the BJP, as mentioned by Ashoka. Somashekhar had reportedly openly stated during a meeting with his supporters that he would support the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Earlier, Somashekhar had expressed displeasure regarding the choice of Shobha Karandlaje as the BJP candidate from Bangalore North Lok Sabha constituency. Somashekhar claimed that he felt insulted by the BJP and its candidate, as he perceived that they did not want him. He also stated that his supporters and constituents had urged him to cooperate with those who contribute to the development of the constituency, implying his willingness to work with other parties, including Congress. The BJP reacted strongly to Somashekhar's decision to hold the meeting and express his dissatisfaction publicly.
