Bengaluru, May 12 (Reporter) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has disclosed its contenders for five out of six Legislative Council seats in Karnataka, slated for elections on June 3.
In a statement released on Saturday, the party also announced the allocation of one seat to its coalition partner, the Janata Dal (Secular).
The impending vacancies stem from the retirement of the incumbent members on June 21.
The BJP's lineup for the forthcoming elections comprises Amarnath Patil for the Karnataka North East Graduates’ constituency, Dr. Dhananjay Sarji for the Karnataka South West Graduates’ constituency, A Devegowda for the Bengaluru Graduates’ constituency, YA Narayanaswamy for the South East Teachers’ constituency, and EC Ningaraju for the South Teachers’ Constituency.
Nevertheless, the party refrained from declaring its candidate for the South West Teachers’ constituency, deferring the decision to its ally JD(S).
The Election Commission of India has already issued notifications for the polls, setting the nomination filing deadline for May 16 and the withdrawal deadline for May 20.
