BJP wants to change Constitution with its slogan '370 Par MPs': Congress leader

Satara, Mar 6 (Reporter) Former Maharashtra chief minister and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday took an aim at Bhartiya Janata Party's (BJP) electoral slogan of '370 Par MPs', expressing fear that it wanted to amend the country's Constitution. Addressing a press conference at party's district office here this afternoon, he claimed that by giving such a slogan, BJP was working to end democracy in the country and eliminate the opposition parties in Maharashtra. He further claimed that since BJP is not sure of victory in upcoming Lok Sabha elections, they are engaging in breaking other political parties. On this ground, people should take up this election seriously and cast their votes wisely in order to preserve democracy and the Constitution of the country, the Congress leader said. He accused BJP of trying to create a feud between the Maratha and OBC communities on reservation issue. On seat distribution issue between alliance partners of Maha Vikas Aghadi, Chavan said that since BJP has allegedly resorted to breaking political parties in the state, they will field candidates who have been chosen with consensus by three alliance partners namely Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar).
