Mumbai, Sep 15 (Reporter) Nationalist Congress Party (SP) Chief Spokesperson Mahesh Tapase on Sunday accused the BJP of hatching plans to assert control over Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his deputy Ajit Pawar by defeating some of their MLA candidates in the upcoming state Assembly election.
Tapase claimed that the plan was finalised at a strategic meeting with BJP office bearers to discuss the upcoming state elections.
Tapase suggested that the plan was part of a broader strategy to diminish their influence in state politics.
Tapase also recalled a past remark from a BJP leader, revealing that Shinde was reluctantly given the Chief Minister's post, underscoring the tenuous nature of the alliance.
He noted that both the BJP and its ideological parent, the RSS, have held Ajit Pawar accountable for the party’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections, which has resulted in a lack of support for Pawar's NCP faction within the BJP.
Tapase also pointed out growing discontent within BJP ranks, alleging that the party is frustrated with Shinde and Pawar for taking credit for popular initiatives like the Chief Minister’s Ladki Bahin Yojana, leaving the BJP sidelined in the public eye.
Moreover, the BJP has realised that the votes of the supporters of Shinde and Pawar are not getting transferred to the BJP candidates.
