Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu), April 15 (Reporter) Hitting out at the ruling DMK over the drug menace, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that the BJP will save the younger generation from the deep-rooted drug trade in Tamil Nadu. "The State is witnessing corruption of family-run party. The BJP will save the younger generation from the deep-rooted drug trade in Tamil Nadu which is being done with the blessings of people in power," said Modi in an apparent reference to the arrest of expelled DMK functionary A.K.Jaffer Sadiq, the alleged mastermind of an international drug smuggling racket worth Rs 2,000 crore busted by the Narcotics Control Bureau last month. Addressing an election rally at Ambasamudram here in support of NDA candidates from Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Thoothukudi Lok Sabha constituencies, the PM said Tamil Nadu is suffering greatly from the "corruption and scams" of family-run parties. "The whole country now knows how the DMK and Congress are anti-national," he said. "They gave away, Katchatheevu Island, from Tamil Nadu to another country. Tamil NadU people were kept in the dark by DMK-Congress on ceding Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka," he claimed. He alleged that family-run parties like the Congress and DMK have never "hesitated to disrespect" leaders like K. Kamaraj, MGR and Jayalalithaa, and said people of Tamil Nadu are backing the NDA’s good governance. "The ideology of DMK and Congress is filled with disdain towards Tamil culture to its very core. Those who cherish Tamil language and culture, today, the BJP has become their first choice. The NDA government has worked day and night for the development of Tamil Nadu in the past 10 years, he said. "Your dreams are my commitment," he said and appealed to voters to give NDA an opportunity. "The state is set to create a new record by giving a decisive mandate to NDA in the Lok Sabha elections.
