Bombay HC restrains actor Rupali Ganguly's stepdaughter from making defamatory statements

Mumbai, Jan 16 (Reporter) Bombay High Court has restrained Esha Verma stepdaughter of popular actress Rupali Ganguly, from posting or circulating defamatory statements about her until further orders. The court also prohibited Verma from using third parties or intermediaries to perpetuate any malicious campaign against her stepmother, advocate Sana Raees Khan said here on Thursday. The interim order was passed by the single-judge bench of Justice Arif S Doctor in response to a defamation suit filed by Rupali Ganguly against her stepdaughter in which she pleaded the latter be restrained by a permanent injunction against putting out social media posts that defame the actor. "I find that the posts, interviews etc are not only prima facie per se defamatory but also malicious since Esha has in the article dated November 29, 2024, being quoted as having stated that she had targeted Rupali. Additionally, Esha has not, despite service of notice, appeared before this court. Hence, I have no hesitation in granting ad – interim relief," the judge said in the January 15 order. Ganguly primarily works in Hindi television and has portrayed Manisha Singh Sarabhai in the sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004–2006) and Anupamaa Joshi in the drama Anupamaa (2020–present)...////...
