Haveri, May 2 (Reporter) In a scathing critique, former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP candidate for the Gadag-Haveri Lok Sabha constituency Basavaraj Bommai, has vehemently denounced the Congress for what he deems as a despicable act of wishing harm upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Amidst his campaign in Haveri district on Thursday, Bommai addressed reporters, expressing his disdain for Congress MLA Raju Kage's recent remark, wishing PM Modi's death.
Bommai retorted that Kage has a history of making such inflammatory statements, and he condemned the Congress party for stooping to such a low level. He emphasised the importance of refraining from wishing ill upon political opponents, asserting that such behaviour only elevates Modi's stature.
The former Chief Minister highlighted Modi's resilience in the face of adversity, noting that despite unsavoury comments, the Prime Minister continues to prevail in elections, further solidifying his position. He likened Modi's popularity to a rising tsunami, suggesting that those who harbour animosity towards him will ultimately be swept away.
Responding to allegations made by Nehru Olekar regarding the BJP's intentions to amend the Constitution, Bommai dismissed the notion, questioning whether such amendments were proposed during Olekar's tenure with the BJP.
He touted his achievements in Haveri, including advancements in education and infrastructure, positioning himself as a capable representative for the constituency.
