Darbhanga, Oct 6 (Reporter) CPI(ML) National General Secretary Deepankar Bhattacharya con Sunday alleged that the breach of the Kosi embankment in Darbhanga, was the result of criminal negligence of Nitish Kumar government as it failed in responding to the alert call of locals.
Bhattacharya who alongwith senior party leaders visited the site of the embankment breach of the Kosi river at Bhubhaul village in Darbhanga district to take stock of the situation.
During his interaction with media persons, he alleged that Nitish Kumar government had completely failed to take concrete steps to ensure protection from embarrassment, even during the emergency when locals made repeated requests to authorities concerned to save them from disaster.
It was very disgusting to note that Nitish Kumar government was feeling free from any responsibility in this critical situation after paying Rs 7,000 as relief to flood affected families, he added.
" It is all the more appalling to note that Chief Minister Kumar, apparently unfazed with the hardship of the people, is engaged in finalising strategy of his party for 2025 Bihar Assembly elections",the CPI(ML) leader said.
Kosi embankment was breached on two occasions, which reflected the style of functioning and negligence on the part of the government. Present dispensation was passing through a feeling of 'self-centred ', unaware of ground realities, he remarked. It was surprising that those demanding relief were lathi-charged by local administration , he alleged.
Bhattacharya demanded for uninterrupted power supply in 24 KMs stretch from Gandaul to Bheja and adequate arrangements of boats in flood hit areas. He also demanded for opening of adequate number of community kitchens, medical camps and veterinary centres in flood affected areas.
Fodder should also be made available for cattle , he added...////...
