Hyderabad, Feb 17 (Reporter) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) celebrated the birthday of its party chief and former Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) with grandeur across Telangana on Monday.
Party members marked the occasion by bursting crackers, distributing sweets, and extending their heartfelt wishes. Prominent BRS leaders also conveyed their greetings to KCR, visiting holy places and performing special pujas in his name.
The main celebrations took place at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad under the leadership of former Minister and MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
The event was attended by BRS Party Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR), former Minister and MLA Harish Rao, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Madhusudhanachari, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Dr Banda Prakash Mudiraj, Rajya Sabha member Vaddiraju Ravichandra, former Ministers Mahmood Ali,
V Srinivas Goud, Satyavati Rathod, along with several MLAs, MLCs, and other leaders.
The leaders cut a celebratory cake, and a documentary on KCR’s life and achievements was screened for party members and activists. A large gathering of former Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, corporators, party leaders, activists, and supporters participated in the event.
Speaking to the media, MLA Harish Rao described KCR as an emotion and a symbol of Telangana’s spirit. He recalled that KCR had resigned from all positions he held in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to walk alongside Professor Jayashankar in the fight for a separate Telangana state.
Despite facing severe criticism and challenges, KCR led the Telangana movement with unwavering determination. Harish Rao noted that KCR’s hunger strike had pressured the Union government, leading to then-Union Minister Chidambaram’s announcement on Telangana’s formation.
Highlighting KCR’s contributions post-state formation, Harish Rao emphasised that Telangana became a model state under his leadership.
Responding to political remarks, he criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, stating, “Revanth plays T20 matches for financial gains, while KCR plays a strategic defence, hitting sixes when necessary. Though we may have lost now, we will win the next elections and secure three more terms. We need not be distracted by baseless criticisms.”
BRS Working President KTR extended his birthday wishes to KCR through an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Every father is a hero to his children. My father is not just my hero, but the hero of Telangana.
With a dream and unwavering commitment, he silenced critics by turning that dream into reality. He fought for Telangana without considering his personal life. My goal is to make him proud and to be worthy of his legacy. I will dedicate every moment to this cause,” he said...////...
