BRS leaders detained, protests escalate amid police crackdown across Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 6 (Reporter) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has intensified its protests against the alleged illegal arrests of its leaders and cadres. The party has called for a dharna at Tank Bund in Hyderabad on Friday, condemning the detention of its MLAs and senior leaders. In a sweeping crackdown, police have placed several BRS leaders under house arrest. Prominent leaders, including former Minister Harish Rao and MLC Kavitha, have been confined to their respective residences, with heavy police deployment stationed outside their homes since early hours. Similarly, Quthbullapur MLA KP Vivekananda, Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao and MLC Shambhipur Raju have also been placed under house arrest, with police forces surrounding their residences. Reports indicate that the arrests and detentions of BRS workers and leaders are continuing across various parts of Telangana. It may be noted here that former Minister T Harish Rao was detained and taken into custody on Thursday from the Kondapur residence of BRS Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy. Rao was later shifted to the Gachibowli Police Station. He was detained after attempting to meet Kaushik Reddy, who was booked by the Banjara Hills Police on Wednesday for charges including obstruction of police duty, criminal intimidation, and wrongful restraint.
