Kolkata, Feb 14 (Reporter) The Calcutta High Court on Friday permitted the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to hold a public rally in Burdwan on Sunday, where RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat is expected to address, Court sources said.
A single Judge bench of Justice Amrita Sinha while dismissing the West Bengal Police objection, allowed the RSS to go ahead with its proposed rally with the condition that the sound levels should not cause any disturbance to others, especially for the students, who are appearing for the Class 10 examination.
The Court order came after a hearing from both parties, as the RSS's West Bengal unit on Thursday had approached the High Court after the local administration denied permission for such a rally citing that the Madhyamik examination ( Class 10 examination is in progress).
The RSS plea was that since the meeting is scheduled on Sunday and the meeting ground is far from nearby school.
The local administration refused to permit the use of a public address system at the event.
The rally, to be addressed by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, was travelling parts of West Bengal.
Bhagwat had recently called on the bereaved parents of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital trainee woman doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered inside the hospital on Augusut 9, 2024.
Justice Amrita Sinha ruled that since the rally will be held on Sunday and it will be for 75 minutes, it was unlikely to cause significant inconvenience.
The Hudge, however, advised the organisers to hold it peacefully and the sound levels should be kept to a minimum to avoid any exam disruptions...////...
