Cauvery row : TN All Party meet resolves to gets its due share through legal means

Chennai, July 16 (Reporter) An All Party meeting convened by the Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday unanimously resolved to gets its due share of Cauvery waters from Karnataka through legal means and assures to protect the rights of the farmers in the Delta region. A total of three resolutions were unanimously adopted in the meeting, in which Legislature Party leaders and representatives of all parties participated. Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan chaired the meeting held at the State Secretariat. A resolution adopted at the meeting strongly condemned the Karnataka government's decision not to release waters as per the directive of the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee and in accordance with the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and the Supreme Court verdict. Another Resolution said the meeting urges the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) to direct the Karnataka government to immediately release Cauvery waters due to Tamil Nadu as per the Tribunal's final award and the Apex Court orders. The third Resolution said it was also decided to approach the Supreme Court, if necessary, and take all legal steps to get its due share of Cauvery waters from Karnataka.
