CBI detains 3 medical students of Patna AIIMS another surrenders in NEET UG Paper leak case

Patna, July 18 (Reporter) The Central Bureau of Investigation CBI investigating the NEET UG paper leak case detained three medical students of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna whereas another student surrendered on his own. Patna AIIMS Director Dr Gopal Krishna Pal said here on Thursday that the CBI caught three Students whereas another one surrendered himself. Assuring to extend full cooperation to the CBI in the investigation, Dr Pal said that he has requested the CBI to update him on the issue. Dr Pal said the administration would take strong action against the students in case they were found guilty. He said the CBI team on Wednesday provided him with the photographs and names of four students and had asked for their interrogation. The Director said the CBI team took a third-year student Chandan Singh of Siwan with them and again in the evening they took two other students of medical third-year Kumar Sanu of Patna and Rahul Anand of Dhanbad with them. After getting this information, a second-year medical student of Araria Karan Jain surrendered before the CBI team on his own. Dr Pal said that the rooms of all four students have been sealed and would be opened in his presence whenever the CBI team arrives. He said the students had separate rooms in different hostels. The CBI team had also informed about the requirements of the computer, laptop and diary of the detained students. The CBI was investigating the case RC 224/2024 lodged at Shastri Nagar police station on June 23 under sections 120 B, 406, 407, 408, and 409 of the Indian penal code. The NEET-UG 2024 exam was conducted on May 5 and its results were declared on June 4 showing as many as 67 students had topped the exam with a perfect score of 720 which triggered protests all over the country. The officer in charge of Shastri Nagar police station of Patna had lodged an FIR on his personal written statement regarding the leak of the question paper of the said examination on May 5. In the FIR it was stated that following a tip off, a vehicle under his jurisdiction was frisked and objectional documents suspecting questions leak were recovered and three people were also arrested. Later, on the information of the arrested persons an examine Ayush Raj was nabbed from DAV School Examination Centre located in Bihar State Electricity Board colony. The arrested accused revealed that the question papers were given to several students on the night of May 4 and 5, 2024 who were asked to get the answers by heart. The Shastri Nagar Police has already arrested 18 people and sent them to jail in connection with the NEET question paper leak...////...
